We have summarized the following information to better assist
you with the decision of installing the green yourself versus hiring a
certified installer.
For greens that exceed 500 square feet in size, we strongly recommend
to hire a certified installer. Putting greens of this size employ a lot
of sub-base preparation and have numerous seams.
However, we felt it is important to provide you a list of recommended
tools and equipment should you attempt to self-install a putting green
in excess of 500 square feet.
Equipment
- Carpet Cutter (industrial style)
- Chalk Line
- Drop Spreader
- Hammer
- Landscaping Rake
- Plate Tamper or Small Riding Roller (rental)
- Self Leveling Rake or Chain Screen
- Shovel
- Sod Cutter (if necessary)
- Spray Nozzle and Water Hose
- Stiff Bristle Broom
- Straight Edge (for seaming)
- Wheel Barrel or Bobcat (recommended for larger greens)
Materials
- "5-minute" Epoxy adhesive (for cup installation)
- Base Materials For Crushed Aggregate - Crusher Fines, Screenings,
StoneDust (1.9 tons per 100 Square Feet) or Concrete (3 ½ inches fiber
filled)
